Audit & Research
The intention is to record details of all infection episodes in lymphoedema patients for the purpose of identifying:-
- i) the burden of disease ie prevalence of infection and specifically cellulitis in lymphoedema.
- ii) The prevalence of recurrent/relapsing cellulitis in lymphoedema.
- iii)The effectiveness of current therapies eg efficacy of prophylactic antibiotics.
At first the plan is to record data on all lymphoedema patients at St George’s. Then once the website and data recording are
operating satisfactorily at St George’s other centres eg Leeds and Derby will enter data and eventually it is hoped that patients
(members of the LSN) may be able to record each of their own episodes.
